The members and leaders of the biggest opposition political party in Nigeria, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have yesterday vowed to put up a stringent fight for whoever becomes the party’s chairman.
The governors from the south-south zone and their leaders informed the public that they would be in attendance at the Saturday’s national convention in one accord. They are going to come as a united front and on one page totally resolved to make sure the zone wins the seat. They’re seriously and indeed backing ex Interim Chairman Uche Secondus for the coveted seat.
It is worthy of note that besides Uche Secondus and Chief Raymond Dokpesi, all other chairmanship aspirants hail from the south-west zone of the country, being the only zone that is yet to produce a chairman ever since the political party was founded in 1998.
However, the party leaders are saying that the party could not “afford to allow only the south-west zone produce the chairman as it is going to be prone to chaos.”
