Serena Williams has returned to competitive tennis for the first time since maternity leave this weekend with the support of many fans and one very special fan that cannot be overlooked.

The tennis ace’s 5-month-old daughter, Alexis Olympia, was in the sellout crowd at the Federal Cup in Asheville, North Carolina on Sunday as Serena battles it out along side her sister Venus.

Serena, 36, lost her first official match as she was beaten in a doubles dead rubber by the Netherlands.

Since giving birth last September, Serena had not played a competitive match since her victory at the 2017 Australian Open in December, showed glimpses of her prowess at 6-2 6-3 loss to doubles star Demi Schuurs and world no. 165 Lesley Kerkhove.

Speaking after the match concerning her daughter, the tennis star said; ‘It’s great. It’s her first match so I am glad she got to see it.’
